Xiangshan Sailing Center, also known as the Zhejiang Marine Sports Center, is located on the coastal peninsula of Xiangshan in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, it served as the core competition venue for the sailing events of the Hangzhou Asian Games. The complex features a modern multi-story administration building, sailing marinas, a breakwater lighthouse promenade, onshore preparation platforms, athlete rest areas, media operation offices, coastal roads, and supporting facilities. Facing the open sea, the venue is exposed year-round to strong sea winds, salt spray, and high humidity. During major events, it accommodates athletes, referees, media personnel, spectators, and operational staff. The facility requires reliable public address and communication systems for event broadcasting and coordination, while also meeting the demands of the coastal environment, independent management of multiple land and sea zones, weather warning notifications, and comprehensive emergency and security operations.
The project deployed a complete FLB IP Network Public Address System solution, deeply adapted to the environmental characteristics and operational requirements of the coastal sailing venue, including:
1. Comprehensive Land-and-Sea Zoning Management for Multiple User Groups: Leveraging an IP-based digital architecture, the system provides independent audio zones for marina berths, offshore operation areas, onshore preparation plazas, administration buildings, media offices, athlete rest areas, coastal walkways, and logistics corridors. Sailing departure instructions, tidal information, and weather notifications can be broadcast specifically to marina and offshore zones, while office and rest areas remain isolated from event announcements to ensure a quiet environment for athletes and media personnel. Coastal walkways can independently deliver visitor safety guidance, with no audio interference between zones.
2. Outdoor equipment is resistant to salt spray and moisture, suitable for the harsh coastal climate of Xiangshan: Waterproof and corrosion-resistant outdoor column speakers are deployed at docks, breakwaters, and along coastal roads. The equipment can withstand seaside salt spray corrosion, rain erosion, and day-night humidity and temperature differences. Even at open-air coastal locations that face sea winds and waves all year round, it can still deliver stable and clear sound, solving the industry problem of ordinary coastal audio equipment being prone to rust and having a high failure rate.
3. Compatible with the long-distance offshore directional broadcasting requirements of sailing events: Designed for the acoustic characteristics of open-water environments, and equipped with long-range directional sound reinforcement speakers, the dock shoreline can broadcast race timing, route instructions, and sudden weather warnings to participating fleets at sea over long distances. The onshore preparation area is optimized for ground sound field coverage, ensuring clear and intelligible voice announcements for check-in and race assembly, meeting the broadcasting requirements of both sea and land scenarios.
4. Smart event scheduling announcements + dual-mode emergency response for extreme weather: Event schedules can be preloaded into the system to automatically broadcast athlete check-in notifications, event countdowns, session rotations, return-to-port reminders, and other timed announcements. In the event of emergencies such as typhoons, heavy rain, or rapidly increasing sea conditions, the system can activate emergency broadcasting by zone with a single command, notifying sailboats at the marina to return to port immediately for safety while directing personnel evacuation on land, providing tiered safety protection for offshore events.
5. Centralized equipment room management for multiple buildings, suitable for large-scale coastal park operations: The entire system, including broadcast decoders, preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and power sequencing equipment, is centrally installed and stored in unified equipment racks. Maintenance personnel can remotely manage and control all audio points across both land and sea areas of the park from the central control room in the comprehensive office building, while also monitoring the operating status of outdoor coastal equipment online. As the park's coastal points are widely distributed and the shoreline is extensive, centralized management significantly reduces the difficulty of inspecting seaside equipment and ensures stable, all-weather operation for large-scale events.
The complete IP public address system achieves full coverage across both land and sea areas of the Xiangshan Asian Sailing Center, successfully supporting all sailing event operations during the Asian Games. The coastal outdoor equipment provides excellent resistance to salt spray and moisture, maintaining stable and fault-free performance during long-term outdoor use. Independent multi-zone broadcasting balances event scheduling, office quietness, and visitor guidance simultaneously. During the events, the system accurately delivered offshore race instructions and weather warning announcements. In extreme weather conditions, it could rapidly provide guidance for vessels at sea to return to safe harbor and direct the evacuation of personnel on land. After the Asian Games, the system was flexibly switched to operational mode, supporting public sailing experiences, marine cultural tourism, sightseeing activities, and water-based team-building events. Audio points can be expanded flexibly according to the addition of marina berths and the extension of park walkways. Standardized centralized equipment room management reduces long-term maintenance costs for the park, truly integrating professional event support, coastal cultural tourism operations, and coastal safety management into a unified solution, helping achieve long-term intelligent operation and maintenance of coastal sports and cultural tourism parks.
